Quetta Gladiators PSL 2019 Squad
PSL Quetta Gladiators roster is placed HareTwice finalists, twice runner-ups. That’s been the story of the Gladiators who have been led by Sarfraz Ahmed with much aplomb. And the third time too, they made the playoffs but were unable to advance beyond that which makes it an interesting season ahead for the Sarfaraz Ahmed-led side.
In what came as a surprise, the Quetta Gladiators brought in Sunil Narine and Umar Akmal and sent Hassan Khan and Rahat Ali to the Lahore Qalandars in a trade.
The Gladiators also retained nine players pre-Draft for the fourth season of the PSL with captain Sarfraz Ahmed being one of two belonging to the Platinum category. The other in that same category is Sunil Narine, West Indies mystery spinner who has had bowling action issues but has bounced back really well each time.
The other top players who have made it to the Gladiators squad include the Aussie all-rounder Shane Watson, almost made a mentor of the team along with Sohail Tanvir and Mohammad Nawaz. Tanvir has been one of the most experienced Pakistani T20 cricketers having also won the IPL with Rajasthan Royals in 2008.
Rilee Rossouw and Umar Akmal belong to the Gold category as both look to rebuild their careers while Anwar Ali and Saud Shakil will be silver category players.
Dwayne Smith will act as a cover for Dwayne Bravo, brought in through the Replacement Draft as they look to bolster their side during the times Bravo won’t be a part of the set-up.

Key Players on Quetta Gladiators Team 2019
Sarfaraz Ahmed: The Pakistan captain has come under a lot of pressure from a lot of quarters for his batting, captaincy and other issues, including one incident in which he was banned for four games by the ICC for racism charges. He has been given the PCB’s backing by being appointed the Pakistan captain for the World Cup and would love to return back the favour by returning to form with some excellent batting in the PSL.
Shane Watson: Now, the issue is that Watson hasn’t bowled in the entire Big Bash League, so he might be playing as a batsman alone but as his 329 runs in the tournament have shown, the old legs still have a lot to offer. Expect him to bat at the top of the order and score a bucketful of runs.
Sunil Narine: One of the most transformed cricketers of recent times. From being a mystery spinner to being one who has become a reliable offie who can bat at any number in the order. He will relish the slow UAE conditions while bowling and if made to open, will look to tonk the bowlers back over their heads. However, could be a suspect against the short ball.
Quetta Gladiators is a side which has lived up to its name in the course of this tournament. Their batting and bowling have been more or less consistent, and the role of their overseas players in the process is something which can’t be ignored.
